The Mini125 is a portable folding bicycle. The current production features 4 models. These models share the same frameset but use different wheels. The standard Mini125 model weighs 5.9kg. It folds into a 73x36X22cm package. It stands vertical when folded and it fits into an Ikea bag. It folds into a bundle. The standard version features polyurethane wheels with a diameter of 125mm or 110mm. The gear development is the one typical of city bikes. Designed and developed by Giuseppe and Paolo Ganio, of Turin, Italy. Giuseppe Ganio is a parallel entrepreneur at it:Mdebikes, Alpignano, Italy. Mini125 is marketed under the MDEbikes brand. Released and presented at the 2003 Handmade Bicycle Show of Tokyo. The Mini125_100 features 100mm diameter wheels, making it the riding bicycle with the smallest wheels in the world. The super high rebound polyurethane wheels enable to achieve low rolling friction even with small wheel diameters. A version of this bicycle featuring pneumatic tires (Mini125_p) has been developed for riding in historic city districts. The Mini125 has been originally developed with the idea to use roller ski wheels, at that time the only high quality polyurethane wheels available at 100mm of diameter. During the development of the Mini125, polyurethane kick scooters wheels became available. Additionally speedskating inline skates moved up to larger diameter wheels, such as 100mm and 110mm. For this reason the Mini125 can use also inline skate wheels. The Mini125 transmission is done using a minimoto chain and pinion. |
